Issues with Dec 2015 update

Ive used this app for several years and just upgraded to extend my database, but with the latest update the search function no longer works. Love the app, but need this function!

Non intuitive interface

I have been attempting to sort my books via genre to no avail. The posted pictures of the app interface do not match the current version of the app. Is there someway to search my books via genre? It only offers author or title. This app needs better help info or a redesign. I am looking for another librarys out of frustration...how good is the app if I am unable to sort through my book collection at a moments notice?

Good, but not great yet. Updates needed.

I have used this for years. I wish it was more cloud friendly with updates. Its scanner also needs improvement as it tends to crash. But its the best book library app Ive found, and it has a good library of preloaded info on obscure books Ive scanned in.

Was great, now buggy

I used to love this app, now its getting frustrating with all the new bugs that have appeared. Im on an iPhone 6+. - sliding to delete a book deletes the book above the one you select - filtering by language is completely unusable; you cant even select a language. - scrolling a list up/down causes the sort/filter section to pop up constantly. - adding books with auto-find is confusing (if the language filter worked it would help); some books dont get a check mark when selected, and trying to select from any page but the first is unreliable. Its a great app, but it needs some attention.

Terrific

Does everything I need efficiently.

Bookcrawler

Very very handy for detailing your collection. Not well suited for the collector of rare antiquarian books (anything pre-ISBN requires full manual entry). Recently the "add edition" feature has stopped working

Updates should improve an app, not detract from it

This used to be a five star app. I still love it, bit recent updates have taken away functionality that I relied on. I use the Link field for manually-entered URLs, you used to be able to click on them to open the link in Safari, this no longer works. The filtering is no longer intuitive and rarely holds. I get tired of the message about turning on Location Services. I dont want to find my books in local libraries. Updates are supposed to improve functionality. Hopefully the next one will!

Book Crawler

What happened to the ability to add your own photo of the book covers? I had to delete and read the app cause it wouldnt even open (losing a lot of entries in the process) hope theyve fixed that at least.

Lee

I used Book Crawler successfully until a few months ago when I stopped being able to enter new books. I click on the new button and get sent to the pic2shop app window in the App Store. When I scan the book barcode it doesnt link back to Book Crawler. At this point I would be willing to enter the barcode manually if I could only get to the window that gives me that option. Upgraded to paid version. Emailed developer. No response.

Handy book cataloguer.

Im able to efficiently enter and include data of interest on my rather extensive library. What is the limit of books that can be entered without the in-app purchase?

Getting worse instead of better

Ive been using BookCrawler for nearly two years. I depend on it in used book stores and book sales in particular. However, it is not as useful to me as it was even a few months ago. It seems like the programmer has the attitude "Youre doing it wrong! Ill MAKE you use it my way!" You can no longer view books by genre, collection, etc. Those options have been replaced with a rather awkward sort box that actually doesnt work very well. Youd think that with such a box there would be an option to sort backwards - that is, from Z to A or, what I need most, from newest to oldest so I can add things to the books I just entered. There isnt. If I sort by date I can only view from oldest to newest. Being able to list the newest first world make date actually useful. Today it insisted that I had exceeded the trial version and I should buy it. I bought it almost two years ago (and on my Mac as well). Signing into the App Store fixed that, but now Im worried about what will happen if Im in a place where I cant get connectivity. Its giving me grief about not being able to fetch data via cell ... on a WiFi-only device talking happily to the network (note that Im writing this review). Every update seems to add bugs and remove features. Tech support is non-existent. Im having a critical problem - search is not working. (probably a database issue) The programmer has not deigned to reply to me. Im patient, but its been over a month. That said, I dont know of any app that does the job as well or better. BookCrawler isnt as good as it was when I bought it, but it hasnt sunk below the capability of any other yet. I miss the features it used to have, but its still the best option out there. Update: as many other reviewers have said, every update seems to remove features and make formerly useful features awkward or impossible to use. If I hadnt bought it two years ago, I certainly wouldnt get it now. The iOS 9.2 update fixed my search problem (no thanks to this dev) but for some bizarre reason you have to tap on the result list to actually get your search results instead of them just displaying like they used to. Whats up with that, yall? And since the last BookCrawler update, when you do an ISBN scan, it puts the number of pages in the "format" field. What the...? This is something they should have fixed THE NEXT DAY. It still hasnt been, though. One suggestion, which Im putting here so maybe the developers see it, since they ignore email: Make it possible to disable auto-fill for any given field. For instance, publishers put all sorts of random things in genre - not even the same things for books in the same series sometimes! Id like to be able to ignore whats in the publishers field and fill in my own later. But, honestly, Id be satisfied if they just rolled it back to the way it was a year ago, when it all worked.

A shadow of its former self

Just updated to latest version which I have discovered is very buggy. If I use the filter/sort once, the app randomly chooses a sort filter in the display (e.g. Displays all books with authors C-R or Title A-D) and it takes a number of steps to get the app to display all books sorted by author or other filter. Please fix this formerly fantastic app.

Great app!

Recently, I have issues when I add a book from the author view, I cannot edit the fields for the nook such as format, when I click on the field it goes back to the author view. I have to look up the book in book mode to update.would be nice that it does not have the ability to automatically sync to other devices via the cloud. However, this is a great app. I have over 1000 books entered.

App Was Great Until The Update

I used to love this app, but now its more frustrating than ever. It crashes every time I open it, the menus dont work correctly, and it lags whenever it can.

Doesnt work anymore

I purchased this for my iPad several years ago and had 382 books in my list. Now I am unable to enter new books. There is some sort of filter window instead of the input window where I could search by ISBN number. Then I tried to export the data to my iPhone and am unable to do so. Book Crawler is now worthless to me unless its fixed with a new update that improves it (or at least returns it to the version I knew and loved).

Not user friendly.

I do not believe this app is user friendly enough. I have tried adding books to my list and when I select save it doesnt add to the list. I think the whole over all navigation and look of the app needs improvement. But its a great concept and I would love to see it I improve. But as of right now I dont even know how to use half the stuff it is supposed to do even after reading the hints.

Book stopper

It was great till it stopped working. Will not open! Lost all my books information

Awesome app

Love having this app , its a virtual library shelf !

Doesnt work at all

As soon as I buy the new version because I am told the free one will not hold any more books everything has stopped working. It cant find any graphics, no titles with book art totally a dud. Now i cant add any new books. When I hit new it activates the camera What a ripoff. Such a disappointment and frustrating app.

Very reliable

I have been using Bookcrawler for a couple of weeks and have scanned approximately 300 books. It has not failed to find any books. I also like to export feature, that allow me to get an excel file, that I can then manipulate any way I wish. I can only recommend this app.
